Taguig promotes responsible pet ownership towards clean, safe community

The city government of Taguig is taking the lead in promoting responsible pet ownership towards a clean and safe community.

Mayor Lani Cayetano encouraged pet owners to avail of the city government’s free neutering (kapon for male pets) and spaying (for female pets) procedures being initiated by the City Veterinary Office whole-year round.

“Pet owners are not going to pay anything if they want to have their cats and dogs undergo spaying and neutering procedures. This is part of Taguig’s efforts to make our community clean and safe especially for our children,” Mayor Lani said.

Likewise, City Veterinarian Dr. Alex Siblag said that the pet service is part of the city’s initiatives on animal welfare and control, and to mitigate the increase of rabies cases.

More than 5,000 household pets were vaccinated as of March 2015.

Meanwhile, spaying and neutering services will be held on May 21 at the Katwiran Covered Court, Barangay Ibayo-Tipas
