Sen. Teofisto “TG” Guingona III will join thousands of Bulakenyos in commemorating the 117th Anniversary of Philippine Independence on June 12, 2015, 8am at the historic Barasoain Church in this city.
This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Kalayaan 2015: Tagumpay sa Pagbabagong Nasimulan, Abot- Kamay na ng Bayan”.
As the guest of honor, Guingona will be joined by top officials of the province headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, municipal mayors and other elected officials, national and provincial agencies, non-government agencies and the academe among others.
Highlights of the program are the flag raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at the statute of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo.
Alvarado said that Bulakenyos should take time to reflect and recall the sacrifices and valuable efforts of our Filipino ancestors in order to achieve independence.
“Let us not forget what our heroes had fought for. Let us not put to waste their sacrifices. At habang inaalala natin ito, nawa’y patuloy tayong magkaisa tungo sa pagtatagumpay sa pagbabagong nasimulan ng ating mga bayani,” Alvarado said.
Independence Day (Araw ng Kalayaan) is an annual national holiday in the Philippines observed every June 12 as a commemoration of the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain on June 12, 1898.
