3rd Regional Competitiveness Summit

The National Competitiveness Council, through the Regional Competitiveness Committees, launched the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index way back in 2013 with only 285 LGUs who participated. This year, 2015, 1,098 LGUs participated to determine their performance against other cities/municipalities in terms of the 3 Pillars: (1) Economic Dynamism; (2) Government Efficiency; and (3) Infrastructure.

The most competitive city/municipality will be given the following awards during the RCC Summit this 16 July 2015:

  • for Economic Dynamism

    • Top 3 for 3rd to 6th Class Municipality (Winner: Nasipit,Agusan del Norte)

    • Top 3 for 1st to 2nd Class Municipality (Winner: General Trias,Cavite)

    • Top 3 for Component Cities (Winner: Naga,Camarines Sur)

    • Top 3 for Highly Urbanized Cities (Winner: 3rd Place: Paranaque City, 2nd Place: Makati City,1st Place Quezon City)

  • for Government Efficiency

    • Top 3 for 3rd to 6th Class Municipality (Winner: Paoay,Ilocos Norte)

    • Top 3 for 1st to 2nd Class Municipality (Winner: Santa Barbara,Iloilo)

    • Top 3 for Component Cities (Winner: Naga,Camarines Sur)

    • Top 3 for Highly Urbanized Cities (Winner: Iloilo City)

  • for Infrastructure

    • Top 3 for 3rd to 6th Class Municipality (Winner: Taal,Batangas)

    • Top 3 for 1st to 2nd Class Municipality (Winner: Angono,Rizal)

    • Top 3 for Component Cities (Winner: 3rd Place: Antipolo Rizal,2nd Place: Dasmarinas, Cavite ,1st Place: Naga,Camarines Sur)

    • Top 3 for Highly Urbanized Cities (Winner: Manila City)

  • for Overall Competitiveness

    • Top 3 for Class 3 to 6 Municipalities (Winner: Mambajao,Camiguin)

    • Top 3 for Class 1 to 2 Municipalities (Winner:  General Trias, Cavite)

    • Top 3 for Component Cities (Winner: Naga,Camarines Sur)

    • Top 3 for Highly Urbanized Cities (Winner: Manila City)

  • for the Most Competitive Province

    • Top 3 Most Competitive Province (Winner: Davao Del Sur)

Apart from the awarding ceremony, the CMCI website containing the data provided by the LGUs and infographics will also be launched for better appreciation. The data can be used by potential investors in deciding where to locate their businesses. More importantly, the data can serve as a tool for the LGUs to evaluate the competitiveness of their locality and take the steps to improve performance and attractiveness for investments.
