Hundreds of Bulakenyo youth receive TESDA scholarship
More than 500 youth from the City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan received free technical vocational (tech-voc) education as Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Joel Villanueva personally awarded the gift to Bulakenyos earlier today at the city covered court.
According to TESDA, P58.24 million was allotted for Bulacan which is able to benefit a total of 7,952 scholars.
All scholarships will be implemented through TESDA programs such as Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA); Special Training for Employment Program (STEP); and Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB).
“Ang TESDA ay naririto para maging kaagapay po ninyo na tuparin ang inyong mga pangarap. TESDA is about job, what we want is to become a transformative agency, magkaroon ng kakayahan na magkaroon ng magandang buhay at magandang kinabukasan,” Villanueva said.
The secretary also shared the success stories of many TESDA graduates and encouraged the new scholars to do the same.
“I can’t wait na pangalan n’yo naman ang aking sasabihin dahil kayo ay graduate ng TESDA at kayo’y nagkaroon ng kapangyarihan bilang mga TESDA man. Sana ‘wag nating biguin ang isa’t isa sa pag-abot ng ating mga pangarap,” Villanueva said to the scholarship beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado expressed his gratitude to TESDA not just for giving scholarship grants to the youth but for the opportunity to realize the dreams of Bulacan through its productive citizens.
“Malaki ang role ng TESDA sa pagpapahalaga sa edukasyon at pag-abot ng pangarap ng mga mamamayan. Malaking katipiran at alam naman natin TESDA is known of making Filipinos job-ready through the courses they offer, kaya sa pamamagitan nito, mas maraming Bulakenyo ang makapagtatapos ng pag-aaral, in return makatutulong sa pamilya at sa lipunan,” Alvarado said.
TESDA allotted a total of P159.76 million funds to three provinces in Region 3 namely Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac.
