Paranaque’s Housing Program Goes Full Gear

PARAÑAQUE City Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez is making good on his campaign promise to provide decent shelters and houses to their marginalized constituents after he distributed land titles and certificates of full payment of lots to more beneficiaries from different barangays of the city earlier this week.

Among the latest beneficiaries are 13 families from Perpetual Help Neighborhood Association in Brgy. Sto. Nino who after years of waiting have finally received their lot titles thus giving them legal ownership of the properties they occupy in the area.

Olivarez also handed down certificates of lot award to 16 beneficiaries from Sacred Heart of Jesus Neighborhood Association in Brgy. Moonwalk, while 10 more beneficiaries from Bagong Buhay Neighborhood Association in Brgy. San Dionisio also received their certificates of full payment for the lots that they currently occupy.

Meanwhile, a check worth P1.872 million was also handed down by Mayor Olivarez for the acquisition of a property occupied by members of G.P. Rivera Homeowners Association in Brgy. Sun Valley.

This developed as Olivarez vowed to continue looking for ways on how to best serve and fulfill his promises to the people especially the marginalized ones and give them greater chances in life.

“Malaking kasiyahan po ang aking nadarama kapag nakikita ko ang ating mga kababayan na nalulugod sa serbisyong ating ibinibigay sa kanila at sila ang aking inpirasyon para lalo pang paghusayan na magampanan ang aking tungkulin bilang ama nang ating lungsod” Olivarez said.

Parañaque City’s social housing program continues to get traction even as Olivarez makes it a point to ensure that homeless residents especially those living near the danger zones are relocated to safer areas.

Last April 9, the local government has turned over 144 housing units to beneficiaries in PAR Homes 1 in Parañaque C-5 extension at Brgy. La Huerta.

The construction of the housing units was realized through the initiative of the city government with the help from Rotary International District 3830 Rotary Homes Foundation, Inc. and Couples for Christ-ANCOP Tekton Foundation, Inc.

“Ngayon, ang mga dating nakatira sa danger zone ay nasa ligtas na lugar na, nasa disenteng tirahan at maayos na komunidad. Homeowners na sila, hindi na informal settlers”, Olivarez said during the turn-over.

Aside from the 144 housing units, works on the construction of another 60 housing units are in full swing and are nearing completion even as plans to construct another 500 units are now in the pipeline.

“Providing decent shelters to our homeless constituents especially those in the danger zones is consistently on top of my priorities because I know that this will give them a sense of self respect and dignity even as this will also help in our campaign of creating a healthier and safer environment “Olivarez stressed.
