Alvarado encourages pregnant moms to enroll in PhilHealth’s Point ofCare Program

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado urged Bulakenyas who are not yet members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Point of Care Program to enroll during the “Buntis Congress” held this afternoon at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, so that they may avail of the medical attention needed for a safe and effective delivery.

Alvarado emphasized the importance of healthy pregnancy and effective information dissemination in acquiring essential knowledge about safe motherhood and availing of benefits from the government through PhilHealth.

“Dapat alam natin ang mga benepisyo at medikal na atensyon na nararapat sa mga buntis. Dapat nating siguraduhin na ang bawat ina ay nakapaloob sa Point of Care ng PhilHealth upang hindi na nila intindihin ang pinansyal na problema sa panganganak. Sa ilalim ng programang ito, walang gamot na dapat bayaran at walang kaylangang bayaran hanggang sa kanilang paglabas sa panlalawigang ospital,” the governor said.

Dr. Rowena Labao, Medical Specialist III from Bulacan Medical Center and Dr. Arvin Escueta, Medical Specialist II from Calumpit District Hospital discussed Safe Motherhood and Newborn Screening Program respectively to educate the pregnant moms on how to properly manage their safe pregnancies and to guide them to do the right way of caring for their babies.

Meanwhile, PhilHealth Bulacan Medical Specialist Dr. Analee Yap-Reyes discussed the benefits of PhilHealth members where all member-types admitted in any of the accredited healthcare facilities nationwide are entitled to a cost benefit of P8,000 for Maternity Care Package (MCP).

The participants of the event composed of over 500 pregnant women and women on their reproductive stage (14-45 years old) received Buntis Kits from the DOH Region III and the PGB and briefed them about safe motherhood, breastfeeding, immunization, family planning, teenage pregnancy and the importance of giving birth in accredited health facilities.

The said activity is part of the 15-month High Impact Five Breakthrough Strategy or Hi5 of the DOH that aims to accelerate reduction of maternal deaths, infant and under-five mortality; stop the spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV/AIDS); and strengthen Service Delivery Networks.
