More than 400 years ago, the country has paved the way to the birth of a new province, Bulacan, which will celebrate its 437th foundation day with pride and honor on August 15, 2015 at 8:00 in the morning  in front of the Provincial Capitol building in this city.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that in between those years, the province has produced many heroes and successful citizens that contributed to the progress of Bulacan.

The celebration will commence with a holy mass at 7:30 in the morning to be followed by a flag raising ceremony, oath to the national flag and wreathe laying ceremony at the monument of Marcelo H. Del Pilar to be led by Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando, members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan and other local officials.

Former Department of Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho L. Petilla is also expected to grace the event as the guest speaker.

Meanwhile, the Larawang Bulakenyo Turismo Photo Contest with the theme “Lalawigan Ko, Kikilalanin Ko!”, a competition that will showcase the talents of Bulakenyos in capturing the beauty and rich cultural heritage of the province in a photo, will also be launched.

According to The New Provincial Administrative Code of Bulacan ( Chapter II, Section 14), August 15 of every year is declared as the Bulacan Foundation Day and a special non-working holiday in the province as stated in Section 27 or “The Provincial Legal Holidays” of Bulacan.
