Leni Robredo might run for VP!

Leni Robredo said on Saturday she prefers to seek re-election as representative of her district, but added she is not closing the door to calls that she be the running mate of Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas.
''Kapag iniisip ko ngayon, hindi talaga siya option pero mahirap magsabi ng patapos. Iyun yung lesson na nakuha ko nung nawala ang asawa ko. We can never really plan too far ahead,'' Robredo, widow of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, told reporters.
Several civil society groups and various personalities led by the Kaya Natin Movement on Wednesday launched the ''Leni Robredo for Vice President Movement'' at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani in Quezon City.
Robredo said she talked to Roxas around a month ago regarding the 2016 elections, but she said what they discussed was the possibility of her running for a seat in the Senate.
''Tinanong niya ako if I was open to run for a Senate seat. Diniscuss ko sa kanya na it is really an option pero madami kasi akong consideration. Una ang distrito ko, tapos ang mga bata,'' Robredo, who has 3 children, said.
According to Robredo, she is also considering her numbers in the latest senatorial surveys in deciding whether to run for higher office.
"Sinabi ko rin sa kanya na mababa pa 'yung numbers ko sa survey. Parang 'pag malayo naman ako, parang striking distance man lang, hindi naman ako papasok. Pero 'yun ang last naming pinag-usapan," she said.
Robredo is one of the names being floated as possible running mate of Roxas. The others are independent Senator Grace Poe and Senator Alan Cayetano of the Nacionalista Party.
According to Roxas, Poe, who is now the frontrunner in the presidential surveys, remains his top choice for running mate. He said the LP has a standing invitation for the junior senator.
Roxas said, if Poe finally decides to reject their offer, the administration coalition, along with President Benigno Aquino III, will then have to choose who will be their vice presidential candidate.
"Parang sa akin, hindi ko kasi siya inihahalintulad doon sa sitwasyon noong 2013. Kasi noong 2013, klaro noon, parang naging indispensable [ako], parang marami 'yung hindi magandang mangyayari if I did not step in,'' she said.
''Pero ngayon, parang hindi naman ganoon. Marami naman 'yung pwedeng pagpipilian, maraming mas preparado, maraming mas nakakaintindi.''
