PASAY Tourist Police Gers Two Thumbs Up From The MMDA And DOT

The Metro Manila Development Authority and the Department of Tourism gave the Pasay Tourist Auxiliary Police  two thumbs-up for its vigilant effort to provide safety and security to the tourists, both foreign and local, of the Cityas it received P2million worth of personal accident insurance from the MMDA on April 13, 2015.

 During the regular 2ND quarter Pasay Tourism Council meeting of tourism stakeholders hosted by MMDA Undersecretary General Manager Cora Jimenez, the 40-member Pasay Tourism Auxiliary Police received P50,000 personal accident insurance each as appreciation for their 24/7 commitment to serve the tourists visiting Pasay the “TRAVEL CITY”.

 During the same meeting, Pasay Tourist Auxilliary Police DirectorRodolfo “Jun Bautista”Jr. reported that the group is well received and has been dubbed as a “welcome development” in the tourism sector of the country as the partner with PNP TOP COP.

 Pasay Tourist Police received various commendations from the public include the recovery of a P500,000-worth of professional camera and accessories lost in the CCP Complex.The group was also commended for their operations against the “Gagamba Boys” who attack along the airport routes.

MMDA USec Jimenez expressed admiration and appreciation for the effort of Pasay under the leadership of Mayor Tony Calixtoand gave individual personal accident insurance to all members of the Tourist Auxiliary Police. The members of the group serve on a volunteer basis and many of the volunteers are part of the Civil Military Unit in the area.

 Jimenez also said that she hopes that all the Local Government Units of Metro Manila will replicate Pasay, to ensure that both foreign and local, who pass by, visit or stay in the National Capital Region are protected.

 Meanwhile, the MMDA is committed to provide traffic management training to the Pasay Tourist AuxilliaryPolice to assist in the decongestion of vehicular traffic in malls, terminals, hotel areas and other places of interest to tourists.

 The Pasay Tourist Police will, also receive Disaster Management as well as Search and Rescue training from the Agency. This will be useful during times of calamities in crowded areas frequented by sight-seers and shoppers.

 Pasay the “travel City” is home to the third largest shopping mall inAsia  (Mall of Asia) with 200,000 visitors daily. It has the 3rd most number of hotel rooms in the country, and  is the “Convention and Concert Capital of the Philippines”.

 In a related development, some 700 Barangay officials and tanods of the 35 barangays within and around the tourist areas of Pasay will be enlisted by the City Government to assist in providing safety and security to local and foreign tourists who visit the “Travel City”.

 Likewise, almost 15,000 elementary and high school students of the schools around the tourist areas of MOA, the Resorts World and the MRT/LRT areas will be oriented on tourism information and communication to serve as “Kiddie Tourism Information Officers”.
