Bulacan kicks off PWDs week

The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has kicked off the celebration of persons with disabilities’ (PWDs) “Linggo ng may Kapansanan” with the theme “Health and Wellness of PWD Opportunities toward an Inclusive Development” earlier today at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

The program aims to increase the self esteem and confidence of persons with disability in the province.

“Sa ganitong paraan nais nating ipadama sa ating mga kalalawigan na may kapansanan na hindi sila iba sa atin, na kaya nilang umangat sa anumang larangang pipiliin nila basta may tiyaga at nasa puso nila,” Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said.

The PWDs participated in the 4^th Stage of the Philippine Sports Commission Philspada Para National Games in RMSC Manila that was held from July 2 to July 6, 2015.

On July 17, the 21 towns and three cities of Bulacan will participate in the month-long celebration by putting up streamers of the events in their respective towns.

Meanwhile, the pre-screening of patients with harelip and cleft palate will be held in Baliwag District Hospital on July 18. The procedure

“May dalawang batch tayo ng operation para dito. Pagkatapos ng screening magkakaroon tayo ng check up para sa mga pasyente sa July 19-20, then clearance and admission na ng batch one sa July 21 tuloy na sa surgery sa July 22, then the same procedure follows para sa batch two na ang surgery naman ay sa July 23,” Rowena Joson-Tiongson, PSWDO head said.

The procedure, operation and post-operative and removal of sutures will be held at the Baliwag District Hospital.

Moreover, there will also be a Zumba Exhibition entitled “Basta’t Bulakenyo Kahit may ‘K’ Okey” on July 22 at SM Baliwag to promote the importance of exercise and healthy lifestyle among PWDs which will be followed by a  Zumba Competition  in SM Pampanga the following day.
