Bulacan to host Batang Pinoy Luzon Qualifying Leg

The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) has been chosen by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) to hold its Philippine Youth Games dubbed as Batang Pinoy 2015, where in thousands of young athletes are set to compete in different sports categories in the Luzon Qualifying Leg this coming July 17-22, 2015 in this city. 

Children ages 15 years old and below from different provinces in Luzon are encouraged to join the competition for them to develop their basic athletic skills that is necessary to be a sports champion who will represent their respective province or even the country in the future national and international sports tournaments.

Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado expressed his support to the competition and even encouraged other local government units to invest in the sports development of the youth within their respective areas, which is also one of the main goals of Batang Pinoy.

“Dapat nating linangin at suportahan ang mga kabataang mayroon angking kakayahan sa larangan ng sports. Tulungan natin silang maging isang magandang ehemplo sa kapwa nila kabataan at habang sila ay bata pa ay mabatid na nila ang pagkakaroon ng disiplina, pagkakaisa, kahusayan at patas na paglalaro na kabilang sa mahalagang elemento sa pagbuo ng matatag na komunidad,” Alvarado said.

PSC Officers together with the Provincial Sports, Youth, Employment and Development Office also prepared and inspected the billeting areas and playing venues that will be used by the participating young athletes.

Sports included in the tournament are basketball, volleyball, athletics, dance sports, gymnastics, tennis, swimming, triathlon, baseball, archery and other sports activities that will showcase the children’s athletic potentials that are waiting to be discovered.

Under Executive Order No. 44, the Philippine Youth Games otherwise known as Batang Pinoy, serves as the national sports competition program for children and envisioned to address the need for a grassroots sports program centered on values formation inherent in the practice of sports and fair play.
