Thousands Complete Paranaque Skills Training Courses
MORE than a thousand students who finished their respective technical-vocational (tech-voc) courses through the Parañaque Livelihood Resource Management Office (PLRMO) /Parañaque Skills Training Center (PSTC)” can now look forward to landing decent high paying jobs or even start their own businesses and subsequently realize their dreams for a better life”.
This was the gist of the speech of Mayor Edwin Olivarez who was the guest of honor at the 80th Commencement Exercises of PLRMO/PSTC as he also noted the big role being played by tech-voc graduates” in helping spur economic activities not only in Parañaque City but in the entire country as well”.
He also lauded the PLRMO/PSTC which is being run by the City Government for its steadfast commitment “to produce thousands of quality graduates whose skills are comparable if not better than the graduates from other trade schools in other parts of the country”.
Among the tech-voc courses taken by a total 1,028 graduates were dressmaking, electrical installation and maintenance and hairdressing.
Other graduates took beauty care, food and beverage basic reflexology, soap making, pinoy hilot (chiropractic) wellness and meat processing courses.
While others took candle making, siomai, siopao and kikiam making, tinapa making, sardines making, peanut butter and coco jam making.
Various kinds of training which were categorized either as center- based, satellite/mobile-based and area-based were held in different barangays and on different numbers of training days and periods.
Mayor Olivarez cited the importance of technical education and skills development in producing world class workers who can compete with the best skilled workers in the world.
He then urged the graduates to go out and use their acquired skills to make their lives better and also build a niche in their respective fields of expertise.
The commencement exercises were also attended by Vice Mayor Rico T. Golez, and 1st District Cong. Eric Olivarez who both encouraged the graduates to further hone their skills until they all become experts at what they are doing.
“Naniniwala po kami sa inyong kakayahan na gawing mas maunlad at maayos ang inyong pamumuhay lalo pa at gagamitin ninyo ang inyong mga natutunan sa ating skills and vocational trainings sa pinakamagaling na pamamaraan” Cong.Oilvarez said.
Mayor Olivarez likewise stressed that he will continue to encourage and support the PLRMO/PSTC as it has been playing a significant role in the job generation initiatives of his administration.
