Bulacan observes National Disaster Consciousness Month

The Provincial Government of Bulacan has lined up different activities in the province in observance of National Disaster Consciousness Month this July.

With the theme “Pamilya at Pamayanang Handa, Katuwang sa Pag-unlad ng Bansa”, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has conducted school-based activities such as Disaster Preparedness, Response and Awareness Orientation at St. Paul College of Bocaue and Fire and Earthquake Drill at Barnabbas Bulacan Christian Academy last July 1 and 4.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that these activities aim to enrich the knowledge and skills of the Bulakenyos especially the youth on how to develop a contingency plan and conduct school drills.

“Importanteng madagdagan ang kaalaman at maging alisto sa oras ng emergency at mga kalamidad, gayundin ang ma-mainstream ang disaster risk reduction in classroom discussions”, the governor said.

Moreover, there will be a 10-day Advance First Aid and Basic Life Support-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS-CPR) Training at the Bulacan Sports Complex in preparation for the 12th Central Luzon First Aid and BLS-CPR Olympics to be held at Maria Cristina Park in Tarlac City from July 22 to 25.

Aside from these, there will be a Standard First Aid and BLS-CPR, Water Safety and Fire Suppression Training for different Bulacan rescue teams scheduled from July 8 to 15.

On July 16, the PDRRMO will spearhead the 5th Bulacan  Rescuelympics, short term for Rescue Olympics, which will be held at the  Bulacan Sports Complex.

A series of meetings has also been scheduled which will be attended by PDRRMC TWG, Administrative Assistants and Officers and joint RDRRMC3 and Local DRRMCs’ Full Council.

Other lined up activities include a unified march dubbed as Rescue March Cordillera Challenge on July 17 and 18 which will be participated by Bulacan Rescue and other response teams along with the Office of the Civil Defense and City Government of Baguio.
