“The poor should not get poorer when they get sick for it is the very duty of health care deliverers of the country but taking care of one’s health is a collective and individual responsibility.”

This was the message of Department of Health Assistant Secretary Nestor Santiago who graced the event as the guest speaker of Gawad Galing sa Kalusugan 2015, a program of the Provincial Public Health Office that recognizes Outstanding Rural Health Unit (RHU) and City Health Center (CHC), Outstanding Health Practice and LGU Scorecard Green Achievers held at Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, earlier today.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado also said that no one under the point of care program should spend in hospital bills.

Meanwhile, the LGU Scorecard (MDG) Green Achievers that took home P50,000 each were the municipalities of Angat, Baliwag, Hagonoy, Obando, Pandi and the City of San Jose del Monte.

As for the Outstanding Health Practices, “BHW Protektado-Mahusay na Serbisyo Sigurado” of San Jose del Monte City Health Center was hailed as the best; “Bagong Buhay mula kay Nanay-Ugoy, Haplos, Aruga (UHA)” of Plaridel RHU-I bagged the second place; and “Diabetic Care Program” of Obando RHU got the third place.

For Outstanding RHU, Hagonoy RHU-1 got the first place while Balagtas RHU-1 and Obando RHU landed on second and third places respectively.

The winners for Outstanding RHU and Health Practice received plaque of recognition and cash prize amounting to P30,000 for the first place, P15,000 for the second place and P10,000 for the third place.

The governor also shared the recent development at the Bulacan Medical Center and the province’s request for additional 200 bed capacity building to cater to more Bulakenyos.
