The Provincial Government of Bulacan in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will provide work opportunities to Bulakenyo youth in this year’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) in Bulacan.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said this program will give more than 200 jobs to poor but deserving students in the province.

“Isang napakagandang oportunidad ang SPES sapagkat hatid nito ay dagdag kita para sa mga estudyante na maaari nilang magamit upang maipagpatuloy ang kanilang pag-aaral. Bukod dito, natutulungan pa natin ang mga kabataang ito na mahasa ang kanilang mga kakayahan upang maging mahuhusay na empleyado sa hinaharap”, Alvarado said.

He added that saving money to pay for tuition means investing for their future and education.

According to Luisa Regalado, Project Development Officer II of the Provincial Youth Sports, Employment and Development Office (PYSEDO), around 60 students have already started working in different companies.

She further said that PYSEDO still accepts applicants who are children of Capitol employees.

Students who want to apply or avail of the SPES should be 15 to 25 years old and must submit or present a certified photocopy of their latest income tax return for 2014, duly filed with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, if parents are employed and earning below P120,000 a year.

Regalado also said that they give priority to students who are under the program since the start of their application until they graduate.

“Makakapagpatuloy sila sa SPES hanggang sa makapagtapos sila, magiging priority sila, Regalado said.

Summer jobs will start on April 16 and April 20, 2015 and applications will be accepted until April 17, 2015 only.

Among SPES’ partners are Bulacan Sports Council, McDonald’s South and Mc Donald’s BSU, Hidden Sanctuary Hotel and Resort, and Kalata Corporation.
