Santa Rosa now ISO 9001:2008 Certified

Kung maganda man ang serbisyong ibinibigay natin ngayon, alam ko we can give service to the highest level.  This is why I suggested that we get certified.

This was the message of City Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas as she formally accepted the ISO 9001:2008 Certification from ISC Global represented by Ms. Ma. Melanie Olbita, General Manager of ISC Philippines Inc. during the Awarding Ceremonies held on September 15, 2015 at the City Hall Bldg. B.

ISC Global is a full-service international certification and training body.  It is recognized by JAS-ANZ (Joint Accreditation System – Australia New Zealand) as an accredited body and a certified training organization.

Mayor Arcillas recognized the efforts of and attributed the feat to her fellow public servants. “I have always believed in good service and in the capacity of those who are serving our constituents in the City of Santa Rosa. Tayo pong lahat iyon – we are all public servants whatever our position is in the City Government,” she said.

The Mayor also challenged other offices to get ISO Certified as well.  “Alam kong maunlad na tayo,but it does not have to stop there.  Maayos na ang serbisyo natin pero gagawin pa nating world-class.  Patataasin pa natin ang kalidad nang serbisyo sa Santa Rosa by being ISO certified,” she encouraged.

Now on her third term, Mayor Arcillas said that she is confident that even after her term, the ISO certification will be maintained “dahil innate sa atin ang magbigay ng maganda at dekalidad na serbisyo.”

ISO Certification is also in line with her vision and mission for the City to become world-class and a model in local governance, as encapsulated in her administration’s slogan “Serbisyong Makatao, Lungsod na Makabago.”

            “Ipagmamalaki ko ito hindi lamang sa ibang bayan kundi sa buong mundo dahil ito ay international brand.  Ipagmamalaki ko na world-class ang ating seribsyo at world-class ang mga nagsisilbi dito,” she said.

Meanwhile Vice Mayor Arnel DC Gomez said getting ISO certified is an achievement, but stressed that it needs to be sustained.  “We need to put it to practice and translate our learning into positive customer experience.  So that pag-alis ng mga tao sa opisina natin ay masasabi nila ‘kaya pala sila ISO (certified)kasi maganda ang serbisyo nila,’” he said.

ISO 9001:2008

The processes of the City Civil Registrar Office (CCRO), the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and the Office of the City Planning and Development Coordinator (CPDO) underwent a Certification Audit last July.  All three offices were certified for ISO 9001:2008 on July 31, 2015.

ISO 9001 sets out standards on how an organization can establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS) to meet stakeholders’ needs.

Ms. Olbita said that the difficulty (of getting certified) is common at the start, but “once makayap na ang (bagong) system, lahat makikinabang hindi lamang ang departamento kundi ang lahat ng pagsisilbihan ninyo.”

According to Atty. Ethel Aldea, consultant from Neo Amca Innovative Solutions, the City has reasons to celebrate for the City of Santa Rosa is the first city in Laguna to have ISO Certification.  She added that the City also has the first CCRO, PESO and CPDO to have ISO certification in the country.

The City launched its pre-certification activities in March 2015.
