Ipagdiriwang ang ika 17th na anibersaryo ng Paranaque.
Malacañang has declared Feb. 13, Friday, a special non-working holiday in Paranaque in celebration of the 17th anniversary of its cityhood.
Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, on behalf of President Benigno Aquino III, issued Proclamation No. 955 last February 2 in recognition of the milestone of the city, which formally gained its cityhood on February 13, 1987.
“Malacañang has declared February 13, 2015 a special non-working holiday in Parañaque to allow its constituents to join the 17th cityhood anniversary celebrations,” said Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez.
Friday marks the end of weeklong festivities organized by the Paranaque City government in highlighting the rich heritage of the city and become an emerging economic and business powerhouse in the National Capital Region.
Under the progressive leadership of Mayor Olivarez, Paranaque achieved the distinction in 2014 of being the most economically dynamic city in the annual Cities and Municipalities Index nationwide.
The anniversary celebration will be capped by the colorful Karakol procession, the Philippine version of Mardi Gras, beginning at 6 a.m. at Bulungan, Barangay Huerta and the traditional Sunduan Festival starting at 2 p.m. in the same barangay.
