Alvarado, among Superbrands’ Outstanding Governorship awardees

Branding him as one of the country’s most  dynamic and exemplary leader, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado was once again chosen as among the recipient of the prestigious “Outstanding Governorship Award” bestowed by Superbrands Marketing International Incorporated, an international award giving body, at The City Club at Alphaland Makati Place, Ayala Avenue, Makati City recently.

Alvarado, who also received the same award in 2013, was among the six Philippine governors picked by Superbrands as this year’s Outstanding Governorship Awardees including Isabela Gov. Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III, Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Gov. Mujiv S. Hataman; Davao Oriental Gov. Corazon T. Nunez Malanyaon, Ilocos Norte Gov. Maria Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos and Camarines Sur Gov. Miguel Luis “Migz” R. Villafuerte.

This year’s “Super Govs” received their respective awards from SMI Chairman Karl Maclean, SMI President and CEO Harry Tambuatco and Managing Director Larry Brouhard during the awarding ceremony.

In his acceptance speech, the Bulacan governor said “to be a governor is a hard job. If the leader is good, the people rejoice especially if the leader is leading them in the path of the righteous.”

He also cited an excerpt from the writings of Bulakenyo-born hero Gat. Marcelo H. Del Pilar and said “Ang halaga ng buhay ng isang tao ay nasusukat sa halaga ng kanyang paglilingkod sa kanyang kapwa tao at ipagtangol ang tama anuman ang mangyari at ang iyong karangalan ay pagtitibayin at patuloy na mananatili.”

“I have always been grateful to the SMI for their appreciation and acknowledgment of my hardwork and enthusiasm as a public servant. This recognition will always serve as a great inspiration for me in providing and implementing programs that will continue to promote the general welfare of my constituents,” Alvarado said.

The SMI said that the secret behind the success of the Provincial Government of Bulacan is the possession of transparency and accountability of the governor that have resulted to successful projects and programs that improved the lives of every Bulakenyos.

The prestigious award giving body also commended the exemplary efforts of the governor in prioritizing the pervasive development of the province in the field of good governance, health, education, nature and environment, livelihood, peace and order, and history and culture that exhibits his administration’s commendable public service.

SMI also lauded Alvarado for his active leadership as the Chairman of the Regional Development Council in Central Luzon and even commended his efforts in pushing developmental projects including the Central Luzon Link Expressway, Balog-Balog Multi-Purpose Project, Clark International Airport New Passenger Terminal Building Project and others.

During Alvarado’s administration, the province also received numerous recognitions and citations, including the Department of Interior and Local Government’s Seal of Good Local Governance and Gawad KALASAG Awards, Department of Agriculture’s Agri-Pinoy Rice Achievers Awards any many more.

For his part, SMI President and CEO Tambuatco explained that Superbrands is a “Global Brand” or an international award giving body that recognizes not only superb products but good leaders as well.

“It’s all about the content (of the award) based on public documentation,” Tambuatco said adding further that branding is not a competition. It is the consistency of the delivery of what you promised.

He also explained that SMI, which has presence in 93 countries, is not a government body and has no bias.
